understanding of the huge loss for the campaign, which we all need to
struggle very hard to fill.

Please do send your comments.

Message from Amitabh:

Dear Friends,

It is a privilege to inform you that Lysa John (currently the National
Campaign Coordinator of Wada Na Todo Abhiyaan) has been selected as
the new Global Campaign Director for GCAP (Global Call to action
Against Poverty). In the last Global Council call of GCAP, her
selection was approved with great warmth and enthusiasm. She has been
chosen through a very stiff and competitive global selection process
with competitors from across the world. As a member of the GCAP
Foundation Board, I am really excited about her selection and look
forward to working with her. She would bring with her immense energy
and a strong Southern perspective rooted in the realities of national
coalitions and the lens of excluded. GCAP, with her, would surely move
into its new phase with enormous confidence and a sharper commitment
to fight the structural causes of poverty.

As the Convener of WNTA, let me acknowledge and thank Lysa for the
central role she has played in building WNTA from the scratch to one
of the most vibrant campaigns in the current landscape of Indian civil
society. Her joining the WNTA secretariat was a watershed for the
campaign. It ensured that the political aspirations of the activists,
campaigners, organizations and coalitions working with WNTA got
translated into effective action. Her energy, commitment, dedication,
efficiency and focus on building a strong and effective campaign
without losing sight of our core political concerns of justice and
equity have been amazing and inspirational. Needless to say WNTA would
miss her deeply. Lysa and I have worked very closely for the past
three and a half years. It has been a wonderful journey together. I
have learnt and gained so much from her. Thank you Lysa.

I am sure that while Lysa in her new role would explore a bigger and
broader global canvas for action; she would be guided by a perspective
rooted in the transformative politics of South, Gender and inclusion.
I am more than certain that she would continue to work closely with
WNTA both formally and informally and with all her passion and
energies. Please join me in wishing her the best for her future
endeavours.

In Solidarity,
Amitabh Behar,
Wada Na Todo Abhiyaan

Dear Lysa,

My heartiest congratulations on this new assignment. I am sure the southern perspective would figure in prominently on to the GCAP. This is a huge gain for all of us.

Warmly

Himanshu
