Subject: Now that the Moonies no longer run Japan, how long until.. re: NK

[a] the previous Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, was,
at least according to Western Media (English) reports, pretty
closely tied to the Unification Church

Dannyb has been half expecting for the past decade or so, even since
the North Koreans have been firing missiles, that one day Japan's
"self defence forces" would get pissed, shoot one down, and, for
good measure, send a dozen back at the original launch site.

Oh, and another dozen along for the ride, which would "miss" the
launch area, and ever so accidentally take out a bunch of nearby
bridges, communications centers, and a military hq or two.

I'm hoping it doesn't come to this, but the latest news has
me a bit concerned.

(where a "bit" translates to "pretty damn")

[Japanese news]

North Korea fires ballistic missile over Japan

North Korea launched a ballistic missile over Japan for the first time since
2017 on Tuesday, a dramatic escalation that prompted Tokyo to issue a rare
alert for residents to take cover.

The Defense Ministry in Tokyo later said the missile was believed to have
landed in the Pacific Ocean after the country's J-Alert warning system was
activated for Tokyo's Izu Islands, Hokkaido and Aomori Prefecture.

The weapon appeared to have been a longer-range missile, with local media
quoting Japanese government sources as saying that it may have traveled more
than 4,000 kilometers before landing in waters about 3,000 km from Japan.

Yet the broader-based TOPIX keeps soaring, currently at 1,903,01, up 55.43 points or 3.00 percent. Back to you, Thalia.
