Couldn't find a copy of the advert online, but 1975ish she
rep'ed a colour tv company with something like:
"The tree is green, the corn in the field is auburn,
and my hair is bright red. If you're not seeing
these colors, get yourself an [RCA XL-100????]"
This was when a group of manufacturers got the
broadcasters, "in voluntary cooperation with the FCC" [a],
to incorporate a standardized color reference in
one of "extra", so to speak, lines that are
nomrally "outside" the visible image. This let
the tvs "know" just what colour in the picture
was supposed to be what.
[a] kind of like "this station, in voluntary cooperation
with the FCC, is sending this test of the Emergency
Broadcast System"...
