Tedde Moore, who played the strict but caring teacher Miss Shields in the
holiday classic “A Christmas Story,†died Wednesday at age 79 in
Huntsville, Muskoka. Her death was announced on her Facebook page, Page
Six reports. The Canadian-born actress was “surrounded by family
physically and spiritually†at the time of her passing, according to her
family’s statement. Moore had lived with multiple sclerosis since her
diagnosis in 2009. Her family described her spirit as “beyond
beautiful†in her final days, noting that “her bravery in this choice
was almost overwhelming.â€
