I'd have been a little more careful wording that retraction. There's a certain awkwardness in saying ``Mr Bush has not passed away. We sincerely apologize for the error.''

WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was admitted to a
New York hospital Sunday after the discovery of a blood clot stemming from
the concussion she sustained earlier this month.

Clinton's doctors discovered the clot Sunday while performing a follow-up
exam, her spokesman, Philippe Reines, said. He would not elaborate on the
location of the clot but said Clinton is being treated with anti-coagulants
and would remain at New York-Presbyterian Hospital for at least the next 48
hours so doctors can monitor the medication.

...

Clinton was also forced to cancel Dec. 20 testimony before Congress about a
scathing report into the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in
Benghazi, Libya, that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other
Americans. The report found that serious failures of leadership and
management in two State Department bureaus were to blame for insufficient
security at the facility. Clinton took responsibility for the incident
before the report was released, but she was not blamed.

Some conservative commentators suggested Clinton was faking the seriousness
of her illness and concussion to avoid testifying, although State Department
officials vehemently denied that was the case.

So did I. On my list of life experiences, spending the penultimate morning of 2012 in a magnetic tube gets a "meh."

No, definitely not the way to go. I spent mine with my bride in Manhattan and Brooklyn; strongly recommend that even if everybody in the whole world was at Rockefeller Center.

Also, the NBC Experience store is selling a lot of merchandise for Friends, which they haven't aired since like 2004, Seinfeld, 1998, Star Trek, 1975, and Doctor Who, ever. Just observing.

Unless it's a new "railgun" kind of transport to the Moon, perhaps!
(Insert "Honeymooners"-style moon, with Rose's face on it, here :-))

Maybe it's just wishful thinking.  NBC isn't about to take over the BBC, are they?

The connection is likely from when SciFi (owned by NBCUni) was running Doctor Who (and was still Scifi).

Star Trek, 1969... and it's now owned by CBS.

I assume with that 1975 date, Joseph was referring to what we as a species now call "Star Trek: The Animated Series" (but the opening titles just call it "Star Trek").
