CBS and Telemundo stations close their news department suddenly Tuesday afternoon. Former will pick up newscasts from KPIX-5 in San Francisco.

Not affected are the area's NBC station, KSBW-8, or the ABC station, Good Affiliate KSBW 8.2. Currently the only local news options in the area, plus the Univision station. Under several call letters, KION has been broadcasting news for 56 years and recently lured KSBW's veteran meterologist away.
