obwnn: in most areas of the country
the show is aired on the very same NBC Blue
Network as WNN

Many areas lost last night's (Wed's) Jeopardy!
becuse of the shit in DC.

So tonight, at least some stations are bumping "Wheel"
and showing both yesterday's and tonight's Jeopardy!

And on the last show, perhaps just for you, they mentioned the Superbas.

Eyup. I did a double take on that one...

But they also had that Day which will live in Infamy in
which the Little League let grrrrlllzz into the game.

Oh, as long as we're dicussing Jeopardy!, a question:

A couple of years ago they stopped letting Canadians
participate in the game.

I've looked around and found lots of conjecture, but
nothing definitive.

Anyone know the true story?

(Oh, and related to this, Family Feud started
a Canadian version last year).

Thanks.

I think it’s been more than a couple years by now… there was a period when they weren’t letting Canadians try out because the website for the online tryouts wasn’t compliant with new Canadian online privacy laws. But they finally got the Sony lawyers on the case, properly updated the website, and they’ve had occasional Canadians ever since.

Of course, Canadians currently aren’t allowed to participate due to travel restrictions. (They haven’t even allowed contestants from outside California this season. The champion from the final episode of last season, who is from Alexandria, Virginia, has yet to return.)

If I'm remembering correctly, they've had a _small_ number
of non Californians on this season, but yeah, just about none.

I suspect it was just those folk who happen to be located
in California for the duration...

On the related front, I'm scheduled to get shot #1 middle
of next week...

(We're about two highway hours from the Pfizer Kalamazoo, MI,
factory and have been toying with the idea of standing on the
road between the plant and the highway, waving hundred dollar
bills, and hoping a big, insulated, freezer might just happen
to drop by our feet...)

Oh, obdannyb, Brooklyn, and Walter (spit) O'Malley:

I'm faced with a huge dilemma. Pfizer pulled its
own Walter (spit) O'Malley a couple of decades ago when
they shut down their factory in Brooklyn.

So do I have to give them a pass 'cuz their vaccine works?

I know of one big trivia nut, a resident of Manhattan, who has temporarily relocated to L.A. just in case he gets the call to be on "Jeopardy!". (He actually got the call a couple years ago but somehow missed checking his voicemail for a few weeks, long enough that the taping season was over and they'd removed him from the potential contestant pool. He tried out again in 2019 and made it back into the pool.)
