I am trying to develop a webpage which used LDAP based authentication. Can anyone please help me with the details?

LDAP is only available  from within the insti network. You have to write something on home.iitb or mars or gymkhana that exposes LDAP login to the outside world.

Have a look at this PHP script (Modified version of Pratyush's script)

Then your website can internally call this. Try to add a key known only to your server as a GET parameter to prevent brute-forcing of LDAP (though there are other ways to do it)

You can also leverage http://www.iitb.ac.in/asc. I guess it gives neat
errors on failed login.
