Hack Night 2013!!!

Hi all, 

After the successful sessions on python and django, here's what's lined up next in the WnCC calendar. 

This is a part of the 'Tech Weekend' organized by STAB. 

Hack Night 2013 

Beginners, please read this to know more! 

• Who ? Everyone !! no pre-requisites, freshies are invited too.  
  
• What ? Read this.
• When ? 07.30 PM, 8th Feb 2013 to  08.00 AM, 9th Feb 2013 ( Night out :) )
• Where ? New Software Lab (NSL) 
• Individual ? Preferably a team of 3. Not Mandatory. 
• Motivation ? Prizes worth 5k at stake ;). Certis for the best app, best design, etc. It can also turn out to be your snack night :P 

What's new ? 

WnCC is trying to arrange mentors for you groups, who will help you plan, learn and code your app ideas successfully. To facilitate this, we need to know before hand, the platforms you need help in. Start thinking of your app idea now, brainstorm with your team members and register it here. No worries, you can choose to change your idea later. We will be able to help you comfortably, only if you tell us early. 

Call for Mentors : 

People interested in mentoring groups during the hack night, please send a mail to me mentioning your interests. Also mention the platforms you are familiar with. This does not restrict you from participating in the hack night. Allow us to write your name on the Certificate of Mentorship :)

On popular request, hack night has been postponed to post-midsem. It will be held on 23rd Feb, 2013. (The saturday following midsem week) 

Do work on your ideas, you generally don't get this much time to improve yours :)

Hack Night is infinite fun! Irrespective of whether you finish a hack or not, you will learn a lot. So do participate!

Do make sure you have some experience with the tools that you will be using (set up the environment with a working hello world beforehand) :-)

Saif and others here have made some pretty neat hacks in past, browse older threads to check them out.

Yeh, Hack Nights are awesome :) I remember in my sophie days three of us (me, ashwin and kanishk) sitting through the night - just for fun. You can see some of the stuff we made - https://github.com/anilshanbhag :: videochat (over lan 2way videochat) , moodle sync , gpo styler and insti noticeboard - all made during hacknight .

Though we are not having an official hacknight, that should not stop you from hacking. A few of us will be in NSL having our private hacknight - if anyone is enthu do join in :)
