Have a look at this! What is BitCoin?
Bitcoin is an experimental new digital currency that enables instant payments to anyone, anywhere in the world, irrespective of national barriers. Unlike other attempts before, the marvellous feature of bitcoins is that it uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority: managing transactions and issuing money are carried out collectively by the network. With bitcoins, we make money truly democratic.

Bitcoin verifies transactions with the same state-of-the-art encryption that is used in military and government applications. Bitcoin is open-source. Nobody owns it; the most popular client is maintained by a community of open-source developers. Using the Bitcoin network is free, except for a voluntary fee you can use to speed up transaction processing.

Currently, bitcoins are generating ripples with governments around the world because it can render central banks and other financial intermediaries superfluous. Bitcoins can also support very strong anonymity where senders and recipients are idetifiable only by an address, which is a random hash. This poses huge challenges to law enforcement agencies around the world and is currently the centre of a fierce debate concerning its legality.
