Hi Genny

Something Catherine said at the last volunteer meeting really resonated with me.
It was when Teresa told her that she could help her clean out the garage and Catherine quickly responded that she didn’t want to do that, she wanted to be at village green helping out.

I have been doing volunteers’ list since 2015 and the ‘book keeping’ activities for 3 years. What I really enjoy about feast is the company and the helping out on the day.

I think volunteering should be a win win ; ie something you enjoy as well as giving back to your community. I realise I have boxed myself into doing 2 very solo activities which actually take up quite a lot of time, and as the free time I have has been limited, has prevented me from helping out at repair days etc and other more convivial occasions.

I am willing to carry on until replacements can be found, and to help sorting out current challenges with the accounts.

Julie mentioned an extra person to be linked to artisans could be helpful. Maybe I could do that, or just continue as a regular volunteer for a while.

This might be easier on Teresa too.

I think this could be a good way forward.

Kind regards

Helen

Hi Helen,

Thanks for getting in touch about your volunteer roles with Feast. You have done a fantastic job with both these very important activities, often in difficult and challenging circumstances, and I’m sure everyone would share my gratitude for your hard work and valuable contributions.

Everyone volunteering at Feast should find their allocated or chosen tasks enjoyable and quite often people feel like a change which means moving on to something new. Whilst there’s pleasure in being in the background, helping the smooth running, etc., I agree that much of the joy of being a part of Feast is the conviviality on the day and I’m sure you will be warmly welcomed wherever you choose to be.

With reference to bookkeeping I wonder if we should just draw a line under 2020 rather than continually struggle (and frankly, I think, unsuccessfully) to correct the figures? The annual figures have been submitted and accepted, and perhaps for everyone‘s sanity we should move on in the hope that this year is easier.

There will need to be a shoutout for replacements. Would you like to talk about your change of role at Volunteers Meeting or next week’s Steering? If not I’m happy to do so.

Best regards,

Genny

Thanks for your understanding. I’m very happy for you to explain especially as I find myself waiting for a train at Victoria and unlikely to make the meeting tonight. I will aim for steering next week and catch up with April feast via the minutes.

First time out and hadn’t factored in reduced services! Also realise I forgot to share it wasn’t covid! Hope to be fighting fit for may feast.

Best
Helen
