Install missing noun.exc?

I'm probably being an idiot, but I downloaded the official
WNdb-3.0.tar.gz, and then 'sudo cpan WordNet-QueryData', then untarred
the WNdb to the 'default' location mentioned by the make process, and
ran cpan again, but the installer tells me it's not finding an
expected file, 'noun.exc'.

Any hep would be appreciated

Looks like you're missing the .exc files which are found in the full WordNet package.  I guess they decided to not include them in the stripped-down database package...
