This year has started out on the right foot! We are very strong, very organized, and moving forward. Just a couple of dates to keep in mind:

Meetings: Please remember that our meetings are Mondays at 8pm in room 213 of the Bernhard Center. They last about 1 hour and are where we get all our business done.

Fall Open House: The prospective student and parent fall open house is this Friday morning (October 19) and we need volunteers! Please e-mail us if you are free at any time from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm. This is a great way to build membership for next year!

City Commission Forum: October 23 the WSA will be hosting a City Commission forum. Keep your eyes and ears open for more details.

MFCD Visit WMU: The Michigan Federation of College Democrats (our state organization) will be visiting campus on November 1 from 3-8pm. Join us and them at the flagpoles!

Elections: Elections are November 6. If you need help getting an absentee ballot, please ask!

War In Iraq Debate: The International Policy Forum is hosting a debate between the College Dems and the College Republicans. The tentative date is November 13 at 8pm in the Brown & Gold room of the Bernhard Center.

Social Night: Tonight we will be selecting a date for a social night. Make sure to come to help select the date and what we'll be watching.

Community Service: This weekend, volunteers from the County Dems and the College Dems volunteered at Big Brothers, Big Sisters. Tonight we will talk about additional community service efforts and choose what we want to do!

On the Web: Make sure you join our GoogleGroups (College Democrats of WMU) to keep up-to-date. Also, look for a new College Dems website ( www.rso.wmich.edu/wmudems) to be launched soon, and visit GreenKalamazoo.org for our new content. Also, keep an eye on our blog (wmudems.wordpress.com ) and facebook group (Badass Democrats of WMU) for current issues and topics.

There is a ton going on in the community and on campus and we always need your help. Please come to our meetings and keep up-to-date with us online. There is always more ways to get involved!

*We have not heard anything back from homecoming, therefore, we as an organization, will not be attending the BBQ tonight*
