Hi, last year we decided to host a copy of the ISO metadata schemas ...

for example, GMD schema is at:

However, now we are publishing resources under http://wis.wmo.int/2012/ ... which is inconsistent and may cause confusion.

Options:
1) should we take a copy of the schemas and republish as 'wis.wmo.int/2012', or
2) should we refer to the ISO/TC211 schemas [http://standards.iso.org/ittf/PubliclyAvailableStandards/ISO_19139_Schemas/] (now that the problem with GML namespace is fixed), or
3) leave things as they are with WMO hosting the schemas at http://wis.wmo.int/2011/schemata/iso19139_2007/schema/...?

Personally, I think that option (1) seems inappropriate: we shouldn't need to keep copying schemas around everytime we increment a version. Option (3) is inconsistent with our publication of resources at wis.wmo.int/2012 and is likely to lead to confusion.

Jeremy

ps. as an aside, the permissions on http://wis.wmo.int/2011/ and downward prevent reading/browsing the directory structure; only the specific XSD resources have read permissions.

pps. also note, that irrespective of schema locations, we may need to host the CodeList Dictionaries at WMO in order to include the 'datacentre' keyword type.

I vote for option 4.

- publish the revised codelists, schematron rules and other things under http://wis.wmo.int/2012/

Thanks Jürgen ... your suggestion makes sense. I wonder if others can add their thoughts? Jeremy

In addition to option 4:
Instead of copying schemas you can create symbolic links for schemas you wish to keep at their original (publication) location.......
