Hello all,

On behalf of Williams Libraries, I am delighted to invite you to Teach Talks 2022, a short annual gathering of instruction librarians interested in continuing to develop our knowledge and skills together. While it is usually an in-person regional event, we are excited to expand participation this year, as it will be fully online.

The theme for this year's Teach Talks is lesson planning. The event will be a group-focused workshop, where we can work with each other to continue to hone our lesson planning skills. The goals of these Teach Talks thus far include:
  • Exploring best practices in lesson planning
  • Establishing shared goals for library lesson plans
  • Discussing and sharing our lesson planning philosophies
  • Working in smaller groups to share specific lesson plans we are excited about or would like input on, in order to build those lesson plans - but also to share what kinds of teaching we are doing in different classes and departments
We will meet via Zoom on Friday, January 28th, from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm Eastern time. Anyone interested can register at https://libcal.williams.edu/calendar/workshops/teachtalks2022. This event will not be recorded. Please register by Wednesday, January 26th at the latest.

We are asking participants to reflect on the following before the workshop:
  • How do your lesson plans usually compare to your teaching sessions?
  • How did you learn to write lesson plans? How has your planning practice developed over time?
  • What values do you bring to your lesson plans, and how do you build those values into your planning? Are there values you'd like to embed in your lesson plans that you're finding challenging to build in?
  • What part of lesson planning, and turning a lesson plan into a teaching session, do you find the most challenging? The most rewarding?
Please feel free to pass the invitation for this event along to anyone you feel may be interested in joining us. We hope to see you there!

Regards,
Abigail
