[Mediawiki-l] How to add space with an image at the top of a page

I'd like to insert a wide image in the top left corner of my
pages, which is too wide to fit in the logo area at the top of the left
column.

How would I go about adding some space at the top of the page and inserting the image there?

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
