Noob - Help with installing windowmaker on debian 12

Hi, i'm migrating from windows and i've been trying to get windowmaker on debian 12 working to no avail. I tried installing it manually according to the instructions but it just login-looped my system. I wiped the drive and installed wmaker live but audio didn't work and many things were broken.

I will now try to install windowmaker on debian 12 xfce again

Is there anyone who could help me get it to work? There isn't much info on what i need to do to install it.

I've only seen a youtube video talking about how using "apt-get install wmaker" is enough and the three or four different and at times conflicting official instructions on how to install it

But it seems adding a window manager is more complicated

Does anyone here have know how to install it and can guide me on what to do?

I'd be very grateful, i really want to use wmaker but i dont' seem to have the know-how to install it

Hello.

Just install from official Debian repository:

sudo apt install wmaker wmaker-data wmaker utils

Logout from current session and login to wmaker session. In this case, there is no need to compile this window manager.

Since you already want to use Debian, it may be worth checking out WindowMaker Live:

Never tried it myself, but from what I understand its Debian pre-configured with WM
