Happy new year Window Maker users!

I'm returning to Window Maker after some months using XFCE and Gnome. When I used Window Maker daily, I would run

picom --legacy-backends --backend glx

to get a compositor, and it worked fine. Now, when I run that same command, my desktop freezes. The desktop is still interactive, and I can still run commands in the terminal, but the screen won't update anything except the mouse. Also, some visual elements of my dockapps disappear.

My system is Fedora 41 and I use the proprietary NVIDIA drivers. When I was using Window Maker, it was Fedora 40. XFCE and Gnome are still on my system, and some styling from my XFCE settings does carry over in WM (the notifications use my XFCE style setting)

Can anyone help me diagnose what's wrong?

Thanks!
