I had my surgery on Friday, August 27. Everything went great, but for
some reason, its as if I'm having a post surgery let down. I think I
hyped this up in my mind so much. Now I'm just tired and sore. I
have hardly any energy. I took my kids school shopping today and I
had to stop and take breaks, I've never, ever had to do that
before.

I know I cant bounce back immediately, but realistically when I can I
expect to feel normal again?

Congratulations, on your surgery. your body is healing, try to take time for your body to heal, you will recover faster. i am waiting for my surgery date and this is letting me down, i did everything in a timely manner, and got my medical clearance, and im waiting for THE CALLL, its like when people know your waiting for something imp. they take their time, ie, not returning calls, its frustrating.

That's terrible your insurance company is being so unresponsive! Will
your surgeon's office help at all?

I always encourage patients to be their own advocate in the surgery
pre-authorization process. The reality is that some of the programs
are quite busy and may have turnover. Try and get a specific person's
name at the center if you can. Be the squeaky wheel. Also, once you
know that the center has put in all of your paperwork to the insurance
company, you can be your own best advocate by calling the insurance
company yourself. The insurance companies at this point will be more
responsive to the patient than the surgery center. Ask if anything is
missing from the file so you can try and get it on your own if you
have to! Don't wait for someone to call you--call them first. Yes,
it might annoy the office staff but at least you are getting your
needs met.
