Hi WLP members! I hope you're all having a good week back despite the rain and drizzle. Anyhow, I'd really appreciate it if you could help the WLP publicize for our upcoming tea with HEB Prof Tanya Smith. This is our first discussion on women in science, so we're really trying to reach out to women students in science at Harvard. If you are on science-oriented list (like WSHR) or have friends who might be interested, please forward this blurb. And please let me know if you can join the discussion and enjoy some hot tea and Sweet Cupcakes on Thursday at 2:00 in Lowell!

Interested in Women's Issues? How about Science? The intersection of the two?

Despite the fact that more women enroll in universities today, the gender gap in the fields of math and science persists. 

Recent data show that women make up only 9.7 percent of math professors and that they still earn about 8 percent less than male colleagues. 

Come discuss this disparity and share your thoughts at this week's Women's Leadership Project (WLP) Tea with our guest, HEB Professor Tanya Smith. Smith has extensive experience as a researcher and professor and has made major contributions to the understanding of human evolution. 

WHEN: Thursday, March 25th from 2:00-3:00 pm 

WHERE: Lowell Private Dining Hall

WHAT: 1-hour informal discussion and Q&A with Prof Smith PLUS delicious tea and cookies!
