Odd crow behaviour

A couple of days ago, my husband watched an American Crow land on the railing of our porch where the bird feeders are. The crow had a worm in its bill and proceeded to wash the worm in the water tray at one end, dipping it in and out and swishing it around before flying off with its nice, clean worm.

Has anyone seen this sort of behaviour before?

Darryl thinks the crow picked up the trick from watching raccoons do it! 😄
