Black Swifts?

Last evening just after 7 PM about 25 swifts appeared for the first time that we see every year over the Amber Bay condominiums on Radio Avenue in lower Fairview in Nelson. Can anyone confirm these are Black Swifts? I find it impossible to get my binoculars focused on them, the closest they come is about 150 meters but most of the time they are high specks in the sky. I did hear a faint twitter from them but Merlin did not pick it up. They seem fairly large to me. Perhaps those higher up in upper Fairview get a better look.
