Good Morning! Today is Day 5.

****Music Man Update****
Attention students who tried out for the cast or crew for the drama
club.
The lists are posted outside the main office and room M-10. Thank you
to all who tried out.

There will be a mandatory meeting for the entire cast of the "Music
Man"
after school on Thursday, October 22nd in the auditorium until 3:50PM.
Participants will take the late bus home.

PTA Reflections
WJHS students are invited to participate in the PTA-sponsored fine
arts competition, Reflections. Individuals may submit work in one or
more
of the following areas: photography, visual arts, literature, musical
composition, dance choreography, and film/video production. The theme
for this year's competition is "Beauty is......". Students may sign up
in the
Main Office throughtout this week. The PTA will be asking students to
supply
their name, homeroom number, email address and home phone number, so
that we can contact them with rules, due dates, and additional
information about the program. If you have any questions please

Lego League
Lego League has been cancelled for the year due to low enrollment.

7th Grade Girl Day
Discover your power, beauty and strength. 7th Grade girls are invited
to register for a special day for girls at Dutchess Community
College. “Live Your Dream Girls’” Conference is on November 7th. Pre-
registration ends on November 2, 2009.

Yearbook Club
If you are interested in joining the Yearbook Club, please come to
the small café today Wednesday, October 21st. You will be able to
take
the 3:50PM late bus home.

****Student Government****
There is no Student Government meeting after school today. Members
are to go home on their regular bus.

Emergency Card Information
The Administrators, teachers and staff appreciate all the parents/
guardians who have returned their completed Emergency Contact cards.
Should any changes or updates happen to this information during the
school year please contact school.

Helping Others
Help us help others in need by dropping your plastic bottle tops from
tea bottles, soda and other beverages in the collection boxes in the
cafeterias. For every 1,000 bottle tops we collect, an hour of kidney
dialysis is donated to someone in need.

Reporting School Absences
When you call for a student absence, please specify the reason for
the absence such as fever, headache, nausea, etc. so we can gather
and tabulate data as per the Department of Health requirement.

Parents are reminded to please send their son/daughter to school only
after they are symptom free for 24 hours (without the assistance of
fever reducing medication such as advil, tylenol, etc.)

Winter Sports Physicals
If you need a physical for winter sports please stop by the Health
Office to schedule an appointment.

Free Math Help and Tutoring
A community volunteer group is offering free math tutoring and
homework assistance to students in Grades 7 & 8. The sessions will
be from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesdays at Van Wyck JHS. More

Communication
Communication is extremely important to the Administrators, teachers
and staff at WJHS. Therefore, please remember that notes from
parents/ guardians on early dismissal, late arrivals, bus change or
any thing that effects your child would be greatly appreciated.
