****BOE Update****
The Board of Education approved its 2009-2010 Goals at its November 16

The Board will next meet on Monday, December 7 at 7:30 PM at the
District Office. All are welcome to attend.

Captain Counsel Meeting
There will be a Captain Counsel meeting today Wednesday, November
18th
from 2:45PM to 3:15PM in room 105.

Girls Basketball
There will be a meeting for all girls interested in trying out for
basketball today Wednesday,November 18th in the large café. You may
take
the late bus home.

Stage Crew
Stage Crew meets Thursday, November 19th until 4:15PM. If you were
selected for Stage crew, please arrange for transportation home. We
will meet in room 223.

****Boys Basketball Tryouts****
Tryouts are this Monday, November 23rd. Look for times posted in the
hallways.
You will need to have a copy of your report card and your travel sheet
signed by
your teachers. Be sure your physical is in to the Nurse.

PTA News
The next Wappingers Junior High PTA meeting will be held today
Wednesday, November 18 at 9:30 a.m. in the Board Room at the Junior
High. We hope to see you there. There are many events coming up in
the next month (Honor Roll Breakfast, Book Fair, Reflections ceremony,
etc.).
We value your input and help. All are welcome! Please be sure to have
picture ID and sign in at the Main Lobby desk.

RCK Interact Club's 5th annual Taste of Ketcham!
Friday, November 20th 6:30-8:30 PM
RCK Cafeteria $8 and $10
There will be a variety of International food from local restaurants
and Ketcham families. International entertainment and art by members
of the Ketcham community. Raffle prizes! Henna! Face painting!
All of the money raised from this event will benefit an orphanage/
school in rural China.

PTA Book Fair
The PTA will be sponsoring a Scholastic Book Fair at Wappingers
Junior High on December 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2009. Students will come
to the book fair during class periods on Tuesday or Wednesday or
Thursday.
Students will be informed which day they will be visiting the book
fair, so that they can bring money on the appropriate day.

There will be a large variety of books and posters available to
purchase at the book fair. This is a great time to start doing some
holiday shopping and support your PTA at the same time! Please be
advised that we are required to charge sales tax of 8.125% on all
purchases.

Parents are welcome to come and shop during school hours. Please
sign in at the front desk and follow signs to the fair. Purchases
may
be made with cash, checks (made payable to WJHS PTA) or credit card.

If any parents would like to help out during the book fair, please

Yearbooks
Yearbooks are on sale through November 20th. They are $20 each and
will be sold before 1st period in room 102. Buy them now before the
price increase on December 1st to $25.

Recess
Students please remember you must be dressed appropriately for the
weather if you wish to go outside during your lunch period.

Faculty/Student Gov't versus Girls Volleyball Team
There is a Faculty/Student Gov’t versus the Girls Volleyball team
game on Wednesday, Nov. 18th from 3 to 5PM. All students are welcome
to attend. You will be able to take the 3:50PM late bus home.

Homework Help Club
Any student interested in getting help with their homework, please
come to the Project Homework Help Club in room 144. Students who
participate will be able to take the 3:50 PM late bus home. The club

Sports Physicals
Physicals for Winter Sports are now in progress. If you need a sports
physical please stop by the Health Office to schedule your
appointment.

Emergency Card Information
The Administrators, teachers and staff appreciate all the parents/
guardians who have returned their completed Emergency Contact cards.
Should any changes or updates happen to this information during the
school year please contact school.

Reporting School Absences
When you call for a student absence, please specify the reason for
the absence such as fever, headache, nausea, etc. so we can gather
and tabulate data as per the Department of Health requirement.

Parents are reminded to please send their son/daughter to school only
after they are symptom free for 24 hours (without the assistance of
fever reducing medication such as advil, tylenol, etc.)

Free Math Help and Tutoring
A community volunteer group is offering free math tutoring and
homework assistance to students in Grades 7 & 8. The sessions will
be from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesdays at Van Wyck JHS. More

Communication is extremely important to the Administrators, teachers
and staff at WJHS. Therefore, please remember that notes from
parents/ guardians on early dismissal, late arrivals, bus change or
any thing that effects your child would be greatly appreciated.
