Hi Kyle,
First off, are you in Tennessee? I've been to a farmhouse on the Natchez Trace years back, stayed in a loft there (toasty warm). The place had an outhouse and beautiful surroundings albeit the ticks were alive and well down there. I considered renting a smallish cabin in Kelly's Hollar for 100 a month. No electric or gas but nice living and the use of a creek alongside the front.
I've never set up a coven or started a school (I work best alone and take no students) so any questions I have for you are generated from my own (dismaying) experience in public groups with public rites:
1). Who is this "we"? as in:
"... I want to know how we are going to start up
this coven and how to raise money to built this school?..."
I hope you have several more local friends who are committed to this.
If you don't, then the "we" comes across as well-- badly.
I for one am not offering to help with this project.
I am on disability and have no extra time, energy, or money to spare.
Asking for information might better include a sense of self.
If it is only you:
"Has anyone in this group had experience with setting up and running a coven either on-line or face to face?"
"Has anyone here had experience with fund-raising?"
"How did you do it?"
2). I noted with interest the long title you have on your website.
By whose authority do you claim to be
" Lord Zeus Devion Bynx (aka high rank wizard priest, Ruler of draconis clan aka the dragon clan)".
Or, who is your initiator, proctor, mentor?
How have you come by your title of high rank wizard priest?
How many years did you study?
Under whom did you study?
It is not enough to have read books, although a certain amount of book knowledge is desirable.
And yes, it is always permissible to ask a covener who initiated them.
Myself I have no initiations since I am a member of no covens and never have been.
3). Might it be better to start an interested group or assembly of folks or a fellowship of sorts and give up some of the control in return for a bit less of the responsibility?
4). What are your doctrines, pantheon/s, rules, degrees if you use them at your coven and or school? You need to have all of this written out. What books will you use or lessons for teaching at your school? How much money do you need to get started and how will the money be spent? Are you planning to incorporate or something like that? Do you know the process to go through to declare yourself a business entity? If in person, where and when will you meet? Will you have a Board of Directors? How much of the budget will you set aside for advertising?
etc etc etc?
finally, 5). What experience do you have with organizing events within the pagan or other communities? How will you get such experience if you don't have any?
I know print is limited at times in terms of how we come across so I will tell you plainly-- I mean no disrespect to you as a person or toward your cause. The questions I have offered are not any that I expect you to answer in this group. They are for your own reflection and benefit if you wish. Best wishes and do let us know how things are going.
With Respect,
spike
