Job Summary
We are seeking a senior .NET Web Developer III to join the Wisconsin DNR IT Custom Application Development Section. This role is responsible for the full-cycle development and maintenance of high-priority agency applications within a Microsoft .NET environment integrated with Oracle databases. You will collaborate with architects and GIS staff to deliver secure, accessible solutions while taking ownership of end-to-end tasks in an Agile setting. Note: This position requires residency in Wisconsin and participation in an on-call standby rotation during high fire danger periods (March–June).
Key Responsibilities & Required Skills
Advanced .NET & MVC Development
- Full-Stack Engineering: Lead the analysis, design, and development of custom applications using C#, VB.NET, JavaScript, and Bootstrap (8+ years).
- Accessibility & Security: Implement strict accessibility and security standards into custom application development to ensure state-wide compliance (6+ years).
- Agile Collaboration: Work closely with business relationship managers and project managers to deliver high-quality software aligned with DNR standards.
Data & Infrastructure Management
- Relational Databases: Perform schema design, write stored procedures, and execute SQL performance tuning (8+ years). Oracle experience is highly preferred.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Manage source control and release cycles using Azure DevOps and Git, including branching and work item tracking (4+ years).
- GIS Integration: (Preferred for non-locals) Utilize the ESRI JavaScript API to integrate geographic information systems into web applications.
Production Support & Standby
- On-Call Rotation: Participate in mandatory standby support during high fire danger seasons. Candidates must be able to respond within 1 hour when contacted.
- SDLC Ownership: Manage testing, debugging, and comprehensive documentation for all maintained systems.
Mandatory Technical Requirements
- Core Development: 8+ years of .NET Framework and MVC experience.
- Database Mastery: 8+ years of Oracle (preferred) or SQL Server development.
- Compliance: 6+ years specializing in accessibility and security standards.
- DevOps: 4+ years of Azure DevOps/Git usage.
- Location: Must reside in WI or relocate within 30 days of start. All remote work must be performed within Wisconsin.
