Hello Brad,
I presented about the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS) at the Wisconsin Society of Science Teachers conference this past weekend. I ran into Dr. Mark Lattery there and he provided me your contact information in order to help spread the word about this event for high school students.
To give some context, JSHS is a symposium that is funded by the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The goal of the program is to continue high school students interest in STEM. There is no obligation to work for the military if students participate in the program. The regional symposium provides high school students the opportunity to present about their original research projects in order to potentially win tuition scholarships and advance onto the National JSHS event. The top three high school students at the regional symposium will receive tuition scholarships, but the top five high school students will advance onto the National event where the top two will present orally for additional tuition scholarships and the bottom three will present in a poster session.
Our deadline for registering and submitting an abstract, research paper, and statement of outside assistance form to be considered for the January 25-26, 2020 regional symposium will be in December (see website for dates).
I'm also attaching a flyer about the event. Here is the link to our website with even more information - https://www.uwlax.edu/conted/jshs/
Please let me know if I can provide any other information about JSHS and I would be happy to share more.
Thank you,
Heidi
