I'll admit I've done a poor job of keeping this group together and organized with face-to-face meetings for a variety of reasons, but also because sometimes I've questioned the effectiveness and need/want for the group.
A few questions to consider and reply to either me (
bradley...@bloomer.k12.wi.us) or the group (
WISha...@googlegroups.com) with some ideas/feedback.
- Are having local, face-to-face, meetings still something people are interested in?
- What times work well? (Weeknight evenings? Full days? Weekends?)
- What locations work? (I know we are a large geographical region, so I feel this is an issue.)
- How often should we attempt to meet?
- Are you/your school wiling to host?
- Is having virtual support and communication better and more effective?
- What platforms can be best? (Website, email group, Google, Twitter, Facebook, other?)
Overall. I know the value of teachers in the same room with other teachers, especially science teachers with similar growth mindset ideas! But are logistics and schedules and time away from school/family too tough to overcome and make a group like this effective?
I welcome, and am looking forward to your ideas and feedback to help form where WIShare goes in the future.
Finally, not that I don't want to be involved, but obviously I've "dropped the ball" lately in keeping this group going, so if there are others out there that want to help keep WIShare alive that would be great. We could come up with some better organization, structure, and roles to assure we are able to continue to use each other as effective means of professional development.
