This is my 3rd season using the wiseway pellet stove and have read all the post over the years, but this is my 1st time posting and wanted to pass along some info.
all i can find in my area,  arkansas, usa is  hardwood pellets and i have had a bad time keeping stove burning longer than 1 day without shutting it down and cleaning.
until i tried the equine fresh horse 100% pure pine pellets found at Orscheln Farm and Home. i have been burning a week now straight and low is running 450 to 500 all the time. i have no clumping at all with the pine pellets. when i empty the ash try, insert back, and the remove secondary tray very little fall into ash pan, so that tells me i finally got it fine tuned!! no more shaking and prodding needed. i have been able to go to work come home and temp is same and stove is running as i left it.
i could never do that before.
i do empty the ash tray morning and night. i am very pleased with these pellets and just wanted to pass this info along to anyone else not able to fine softwood pellets.

This is a really old topic, but I am having trouble with my mixed pellets, and no softwood available here in Maine.  I *can* get pine pellets. Have you continued to use these?  No problem with the pine sap buildup they talk about?

I tried hardwood when I’d first used the stove but it ran too hot. If you can get softwood, it’s definitely the best. The creosote builds up only around the burn area so it’s easy to maintain.

Thanks.  I'm having trouble with it going out, not running too hot.

Yes, but the stove was built for softwood pellets. Just sayin’. It was a problem i had a long time ago. Is the chimney going through only one level? Did you try tapping the chimney to prevent ash built up?

Definitely going to try that.  Yes, it's a one level house.  Draft *seems* fine.  I leave a window open until we get that fresh air vent hooked up.

Just really frustrating.  Reading through, I'm clearly not the only one and seem to be a lot of posts--not as many answers.  Widening the basket maybe.

Oh-- will be able to get softwood next season.  And I can get pine pellets currently.  Might try a bag of those.

This is what we everyone uses in my area, and they work great.
