Hi Jan,
I was referred to you by Roger Baker who I work with at NCMEC, he said he had reached out to you regarding the Backpage Survivor Remission Network service we are providing to survivors and I wanted to make sure you had a link for a webinar we are providing next week for law enforcement and service providers on the Network as well as the larger DOJ Remission Process.
As a little background, the DOJ opened a Backpage/CityXGuide Remission process to financially compensate eligible survivors for certain documented, trafficking-related costs. Petitions are due February 2, 2026.
To make this simpler for survivors, NCMEC launched the Backpage Survivor Remission Network. Survivors of trafficking who were advertised on Backpage or CityXGuide can request to be connected to a no-cost attorney in our network who can help complete and file petitions and document eligible, trafficking-related losses. While an attorney is not required to file a petition, NCMEC wanted to make sure that survivors who are interested in accessing support navigating this process are able to do so for FREE.
Because the timeline is tight, we’re also hosting an informational webinar to help raise awareness, share accurate information, and equip you with resources to support eligible survivors: Information Session for NGO & LE: NCMEC's Backpage Survivor Remission Network
Date/Time: November 12th, 2:00 EST
Where: Zoom (link after RSVP)
RSVP (required): https://ncmec.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_kpJmv0PTR1CuBu5VKXBx6w
Please feel free to share this webinar invitation with your local task forces, MDTs, service providers and others working with survivors in your community!
In the webinar, we’ll provide an overview of the DOJ Backpage petition and eligibility, what “documented losses” means, how the no-cost attorney connection works, and easy ways you can help us get the word out about this opportunity. You’ll leave with a flyer for your drop in spaces, FAQ document, and social media shareables.
If you can’t make it we have other ways to help amplify this opportunity for survivors:
With appreciation,
Alisa
