FIRE: You know you love it!

Fire is a spectacular part of our event, and one for which we take
safety extremely seriously.

As you can imagine, there are a lot of requirements and local fire
code regulations that Lakes of Fire and G.L.E.A. Inc. 501(c)4 have to
bear in mind in approaching the spectacular glory of a fire-loving
event like ours. Lakes of Fire embraces many different fire art forms.
The Fire Art Safety Team (F.A.S.T.) requires that you contact us first
regarding fire spinning performances, fire sculptures, flame effects
and open fires. All these elements require prior pre-event signup. All
fire art requires inspection onsite, which may require a phone
interview to discuss your art and safety plan. F.A.S.T. members don't
bite, we limit risk and prevent friends from getting hurt. While
pre-registration is closed, please check in at the F.A.S.T. HQ (site
102) when you arrive to register and inspect your flame effect or burn
barrel.

If you have fire art, are a fire spinner, or in general want to know
how to safely make fire a part of your camp, project, performance,
etc., you NEED to check out this highly informative page, and look at
the sections that pertain to you. http://www.lakesoffire.org/fireart/

This year’s event will have more effigies than ever, including our
Friday night Wee Burn! Here’s what’s up with the big burn!

Saturday - The Peninsula
All time estimated and subject to change.

9:05: first warning shot fired
9:35: second warning shot fired
9:45: conclave performance starts
10:15: conclave ends
10:35: Effigy fireworks begin
10:45: Peninsula Fireworks begin
10:50: Effigy Ignites

DMV: Gettin’ around!

Mutant vehicles are a unique type of art that is welcome to roam Lakes
of Fire. If it has a motor and is not completely powered by human
propulsion, it's considered a motorized vehicle and therefore must be
registered as a Mutant Vehicle by its owners to be driven at LoF.
Owners are responsible for the use and behavior of their vehicle
during the event at all times, regardless of who drives it . All
drivers agree to only drive in approved areas of the event, to yield
to pedestrians, bicycles, Rangers, Staff, and Medical traffic. All
drivers must operate vehicles in a safe, sane and sober manner. No one
is allowed to drive over 5 mph. If you are planning to bring a Mutant
Vehicle to Lakes of Fire you must pre-register with the LoF Department
of Mutant Vehicles. We’re sorry, the registration deadline has passed.
Email d...@lakesoffire.org with any questions you may have, or visit
http://lakesoffire.org/vehicles .

IMMEDIACY: Live the moment!

Immediate experience is, in many ways, the most important touchstone
of value in our culture. We seek to overcome barriers that stand
between us and a recognition of our inner selves, the reality of those
around us, participation in society, and contact with a natural world
exceeding human powers. No idea can substitute for this experience.

This is your time – this moment – right now! Changing your life, your
relationships, your perception of the world, your mind, and your
relation to the universe . . . . these things are up to you. Why wait?

For a funner take on immediacy, just go here:
https://soundcloud.com/lakes_of_fire/immediacy

All this just off the wire from Chicago’s west side . . . and speaking
of immediacy, you’d better get on it folks! The Fabulous Contraption
opens very . . . VERY SOON!

xoxoxo,

The Info-bot
