KIDS: Bring ‘em!

Lakes of Fire is a family event that welcomes participants of all
ages. People under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a 21+ parent
or guardian, both at entry, and at all times during the event.

You are responsible for the welfare of minors in your care. You should
know where your children are and be aware that A FEW activities are
adult–specific. At the very least, non–sexual nudity will happen, and
it's your responsibility to determine how much of it your minors are
exposed to.

Lakes of Fire has a special kid–friendly zone for families with younger humans.

Minors 12 years old and under are welcome to join Lakes of Fire free
of charge. Participants 13+ must pay the full ticket price.

For the protection of kids at Lakes of Fire, all parents and guardians
are required to register each minor in their care at the Gate Station.

Failing to adequately supervise minors in your care is your fastest
ticket out of Lakes of Fire, as you will be immediately ejected
without exception or recourse.

For more tips on how to negotiate bringing your children to a Burning
Man event, please see this informativ

WEE BURN 2015: Participate!!

Calling all creative fire loving people!

For the first time ever, the Fire Art Safety Team (FAST) is putting
together a project and we want your help. We all know how much
everyone at LOF loves to watch things burn. We also know how daunting
it can be to even think about building something to burn. For LOF 2015
we are creating a project for everyone who has always wanted to build
an art piece and watch it burn. Start here to learn more.
http://tinyurl.com/contraption15weeburn

Welcome to the MINI-EFFIGY PROJECT aka wee little burn

Friday night at North Beach, FAST will be setting up a burn platform
(extra sand on the already sandy beach) that will be the showcase
location of the MINI-EFFIGY Project. The Mini-Effigy Project is open
to anyone who wants to build an art piece and watch it burn. There are
some guidelines but they are small, just like the project you will
build.

MEDICAL / E.S.D.: You need a hero?

A volunteer Emergency Services Department comprised of a Medical Team,
Fire Team, and Mental Health Team will be on hand to triage and treat
any medical problems or injuries, or assist with wayward fires or
participants. On–duty ESD Medical and Fire Team volunteers can be
identified by their yellow t–shirts. Mental Health volunteers will be
on-call, as needed and can be accessed via on-duty ESD volunteers and
Rangers, who can also help you obtain medical or fire assistance. The
ESD Tent will be clearly marked on the Lakes of Fire map. A Sanctuary
will be provided for those who need its soothing embrace. Seek help at
ESD directly, or we can come to you. All of our Medical Team
volunteers are trained and certified Healthcare providers, many with
EMS and ER experience, as are most of the Fire Team volunteers.

ESD volunteers are also your portal to off-site medical care
locations.. While you have the right to contact 911 directly, please
try and route the request through a Ranger or an ESD Team volunteer so
that we can remain “in the loop” and facilitate. In the event you need
to be evacuated to a hospital or wish to travel to one yourself,
contact ESD Medical. We will provide information or assistance to get
you to the local hospital or Urgent Care Center.

Self–reliance is one of the tenets of Burning Man. Please help us to
help you by bringing a basic first–aid kit with each group and knowing
how to use the contents. We’re happy to treat any problem that you
cannot handle yourself. If you have a pre–existing medical condition
that you feel may become a problem during the event, please make a
campmate aware of it and inform the ESD Medical Team. If you have any
questions, feel free to approach any on–duty ESD volunteer.

RANGERS: Your friends!

The Lakes of Fire Rangers help to preserve the safety, welfare, and
quality of experience of our community while supporting participants,
to embody the 10 Principles.

Rangers are first and foremost citizens of Lakes of Fire; they are
burners and participants just like you – they are not “law
enforcement.” Pairs of Rangers can be found circulating the event 24/7
helping out as needed. They carry radios to access additional
resources such as Emergency Services (Fire & Medical) and are trained
to mediate disputes. Rangers provide timely information in a variety
of situations.

You can spot LoF Rangers by their all–khaki outfit with Ranger logo
and Ranger hat.

Rangers do prefer that you practice radical self–reliance first, and
ask for help second – but participants are encouraged to ask for
assistance when they need it.

If you're interested in joining the ranks of the LoF Rangers, fill out
the LoF Volunteer application and express your interest. You'll have
to commit to a training session and to work a shift in a sober
condition. It's a wonderful way to hold space for the event.

All Ranger Volunteers must participate in a training session. There
will be 1 pre–event training in Chicago, 1 pre–event training in/near
Detrioit, and 1 on–site training Friday morning.

COLLABORATION: All together!

Our community values creative cooperation and collaboration. We strive
to produce, promote and protect social networks, public spaces, works
of art, and methods of communication that support such interaction.

This means that you are always encouraged to work with your friends,
old, and new, on any project that provides experiences and fun to
other participants. We share the work, and share the joy!

That’s all we’ve got for you today. Can’t wait to see you at the
FABULOUS CONTRAPTION!

xoxoxo,
