What’s this you hear?

A buzzing, tiny engine prickles in your ear, and you spy a flying
creature made of glass and metal, emitting tiny puffs of steam. Or
maybe that's an actual cicada, playing around your ears on a summer’s
day.

And all around you?- a machine, a sunny testament to human ingenuity;
a space where many parts move in perfect coordination, where the gears
turn on a well-oiled lube of love and imagination. But can a thousand
little gears collaborate? Can the pieces of this puzzle fall into
place, as though some quantum magic runs the universe?

Is there a line between the man-made and the “natural?”- where the
drum machine ends, and the sound vibration that travels through
organic spheres begins?

There’s but one way to know the answer.

G.L.E.A. BOARD MEMBER NEEDED

Great Lakes Experimental Arts, Inc., 501(c)4 is seeking a
highly-dedicated volunteer to join its Board of Directors.

An ideal candidate would have some experience volunteering with Lakes
of Fire as a Team Lead, or at least a Shift Lead volunteer in previous
years. Technically, however, there are no prerequisites for joining
our Board of Directors, other than a deep commitment to seeing Lakes
of Fire continue to thrive.

EFFIGY DESIGN CONTEST!

BUILDERS!

Do you love designing, building, and burning big art? Do you have some
great ideas for an effigy? Would you like somebody else to help pay
for it, and would you like to work with a team to help make this
vision come to life? The Lakes of Fire Effigy Council loves to do all
that, and we are calling out for designs for the 2015 Lakes of Fire
Effigy!

The Effigy Council is looking for an effigy idea that relates to
Fabulous Contraption. But have no fear, if your idea doesn't directly
correlate to the theme, thats ok, submit it anyway. The Theme is meant
to inform and inspire - but if you have a great idea that will just
knock the socks off everybody, send it in!

The Effigy Build Team is a group of individuals who have an idea they
want to build as the Effigy at LoF 2015. Previous build teams have
built a tree, pyramid, whale, factory and a big ship! What’s your
idea? Let your imagination wander and come up with a fantastic idea.

If you are part of a team, super - but a team is not required to
submit a design.
