Lakes of Fire 2015:
FABULOUS CONTRAPTION
June 17th-21st
Lucky Lake Campground

Ehhyyyeeee!!

The Effigy burns in just under 12 days! http://tinyurl.com/loffigy15countdown

12 days?!?! Holy snacks! We’d better get our stuff together!

Our current ticketing process will finish at 11:59 P.M. Eastern Time
Wednesday, June 10th. Due to the volume of refund requests and
unclaimed ticket offers, G.L.E.A. foresees the potential for a small
batch of several dozen to a hundred tickets being available for
immediate purchase. We will be making the remainder of available
tickets accessible to the wider community via a one-time "fire sale"
to sell the last few tickets to the event. This small batch of
leftovers will be available strictly on a first-come, first-served
basis. Participants will have to be paying attention to our Facebook
GROUP to get the link for that final fire sale:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/200999036580559/

We’re sorry, refunds can no longer be guaranteed.

We have a FANTASTIC special Survival Guide on how to be a true Moop
Warrior! If you want to get the full treatment on how Leaving No Trace
is done right, go here: http://tinyurl.com/moopwarriorSG15 . There’s
more below.

In response to a very enlightening discussion about the use of flying
drones that recently emerged on social media, G.L.E.A. Inc. can
confirm that flying drones are allowed and welcome at Lakes of Fire
2015: FABULOUS CONTRAPTION, as long as they are operated safely,
non-intrusively, and importantly, as long as video/photos are taken
with the permission of everyone in them. Operators not following these
guidelines will not be tolerated.

Prevent Art Defacement! Defacing or writing on art or any other
property that belongs to others is not an acceptable form of Radical
Self-Expression. Don't do it. Artists can display a printable sign to
place on/near their works to express this in a radically clear manner.
A Printable "Don't Mark the Art" sign can be downloaded here:

MAP AND WHAT WHERE WHEN

Every year a small cadre of moties puts together two critical
documents so that YOU can have a better informed, and more delectably
planned out Lakes of Fire experience.

Your hard-workin’ Placement and Info-bot Teams have been busting their
humps! The Map is NOT totally finalized, but straight from placement,
the basic jist is good for publication. The same is true of Team
Info-bot’s What Where When Guide, a.k.a. the WWW.

You can get a printed of both of these document version on-site, and
very shortly they will be up on our website. Mind you - both of these
documents could still be in for some last minute tweaking, but without
further ado, here’s the Map:

. . . Here's the rough cut in the What Where When Guide - straight
from Team Info-bot and YOU!

Print these and feel free to use them, as long as you get there may be
some final tweaks!

FOOD DRIVE: Giving back!

Burners Without Borders, Chiditarod, Greeters and G.L.E.A are all
teaming up together to host a food drive at LoF for the local
community!

sure to drop off any unused/unopened non-perishables on your way out
on Sunday!

in New Era Michigan. This food bank feeds over 4,500lbs of food to
more than 180 families every week. This area of Michigan has one of
the highest hunger rates and you can help! The Greeter station will be
accepting the food donations during our shifts and exodus. Please drop
by Greeters station with your donations!

Food Donation Requirements:
Unopened
Non-perishable
Cans are preferred
No glass please
(Unopened/Unused Toiletries Are Also Welcome!)

EXODUS: Get outta here!!

Lakes of Fire ends at 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 21st. Be packed up
(including your trash!) and out of the gate by that time. No
exceptions. If you'd like to help us leave no trace, volunteer online
or at the event. Adhere to Exodus directions from the Gate/Exodus
staff and respect the local community as you depart. This means
everything you pack out ends up at your own home, NOT on the side of
the road or in private dumpsters!

====LoF========)*(========LoF=====
PHOTOS: Proceed with respect!

Lakes of Fire is a private event, and we expect participants to
approach photography with respect for others. There is no filming
without express permission. You have ultimate responsibility for your
image, and should ask photographers or videographers how your image
will be used. Should you encounter a problem, report it to a Lakes of
Fire Ranger. You must ask permission before photographing someone, and
avoid photography that could be intrusive of someone's privacy. Do not
take or publish, in any manner, ANY unauthorized pictures of any human
subject, or any pictures for a commercial purpose.

No commercial use of photographs taken at Lakes of Fire is allowed
without the express written permission of Great Lakes Experimental
Arts, Inc.

LEAVE NO TRACE: M.O.O.P. Warriors’ Survival Guide!

What follows is just a taste of our excellent M.O.O.P. Warriors’
Survival Guide found below. Download the complete MOOP Warrior’s Guide
to LNT here: http://tinyurl.com/moopwarriorSG15

Lakes of Fire MOOP Warriors employ the 7 principles of the Leave No
Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, as follows:

1. Plan Ahead and Prepare
2. Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
3. Dispose of Waste Properly
4. Leave What You Find
5. Minimize Campfire Impacts
6. Respect Wildlife
7. Be Considerate of Other Visitors

The member-driven Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics teaches
people how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly. This copyrighted
information has been reprinted with permission from the Leave No Trace
Center for Outdoor Ethics: http://www.lnt.org

So, what is MOOP?
MOOP (n.): Matter Out Of Place; Organic, inorganic, solid, liquid; Any
matter that is not indigenous to the environment you are occupying.
“Cigarette butts on the ground are MOOP.”; -er: One who deposits
Matter Out Of Place into an environment. “Don’t be a MOOPer, use a
lidded tin for your butts!” . . .

. . . As a participant at Lakes of Fire, you must take care to keep
your MOOP (n.) contained throughout the event, and regularly MOOP (v.)
your camp and other areas to prevent leaving any trace.

Lakes of Fire can always use more MOOP Warriors for LNT Tent shifts,
MOOP Loop parades, and Restoration Ninjas. Volunteer online at
http://lakesoffire.org/volunteer/
