Our PhD student Oana Niculaescu has been selected as a 2018 Grace Hopper Conference Scholar by the AnitaB.org and the GHC Scholarship Committee.
GHC or The Grace Hopper Celebration is the world's largest gathering of women technologists which is produced by AnitaB.org and presented in partnership with ACM. This year, GHC was hosted in Houston, Texas, from September 25 to September 28, 2018.
This award is very selective, and historically it had a success rate of approximately 20% among applicants.
Oana is a PhD candidate in her 4th year of study. She has been working with Professor Gabriel Ghinita on Differential Privacy and security. In the past summer she has been working as a Security and Networking Intern with the Mozilla Corporation. She is writing technical articles for the XRDS magazine (The ACM magazine for students) and has been a tutor, mentor and model with the Enroot NGO in Cambridge, MA and the online "Learn IT, Girl!" program.
