Today is Veteran's Day

The lunch menu for today is: Hamburger with Wheat Bun, Dill Pickles, Sweet Potato Fries, Jell-O with Whipped Topping, Choice of Fruit and Milk.

Let’s keep the challenge alive. Make sure we are journaling regularly, accepting others and doing kind acts.

Our word or phrase for the week is Honesty. Mark Twain once said, - “If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.

The Lost and Found is overflowing. If you are missing items please stop by and see if anything belongs to you. Some of the items have been placed on a table in the hallway. Items left at the end of the quarter will be donated to goodwill.

Huron Winter Sports T-Shirts are here. Order forms can be picked up in the office. Remember any Huron student who buys a t-shirt and wears them to a high school winter event will receive $2 off of their student ticket price. Please return your order form and money to the office before Friday, November 18th if you want your shirt by the first home game. Please disregard the date of 11/11 on the order form. They need to be in by the 18th.

Pajama Drive – Join the 4th grade in collecting pajama’s for needy children. This drive is part of the Scholastic Book Pajama Program. Scholastic will add a book with every new pair of pajamas collect. If you would like to donate a new pair of pajamas place them in one of the donation boxes located in the office, cafeteria or a 4th grade classroom. The last day to donate is December 2nd.

Veterans Day Announcement

Today there is, and perhaps there always will be, conflict in the world. But the United States fortunately enjoys peace and freedom.

Like other things of great value, this security did not come cheaply. Part of the cost has already been paid by Americans who answered the call to military duty when their country needed them. They served in 12 wars from the Revolution to the War on Terror, earning the special distinction "veteran."

But another part of freedom's cost must continue to be paid long after the guns have been silenced. This debt is owed America's veterans.

Some need their country's help, even as their country once needed theirs, to readjust, to recover from wounds or to overcome hardships of age and infirmity. Most need and ask nothing in repayment of their sacrifices.

Let us continue to help those veterans in need with the greatest possible compassion and efficiency. To the rest, since they ask no special help, we can best pay tribute this day by recognizing what they have achieved and joining them in their resolve to keep America strong and free.
