Understanding PIR Timeout

Would you kindly clarify whether I have a correct understanding of what it means when it says "PIR Sensor 1 (Timed Out)" in my list of tags in the Android app.

Under options --> PIR Sensor I have a setting that currently reads "Timeout after 45 seconds".

Does that mean that when the PIR Sensor detects a motion it will stop detecting and responding to, any motion for 45 seconds. But after 45 seconds it becomes rearmed and will respond to a motion again? If there is continuous motion for a minute and I am set to receive an email upon motion, I will get one email when motion is first detected and then a second one after 45 seconds when motion is again detected at that time? So "Timed Out" essentially means something like: "Rearmed after the timeout period has expired"? The phrase "Timed Out" makes it sound as if it is inactive but it has a black blackgroud behind the Sensor name.

That’s how I understood it. Probably should say “Timeout for 45 seconds” instead? The reason it stays black is because the tag stays armed.

Thanks, that's helpfully reassuring. I do agree with you that slight wording changes like what you suggest could make it easier for users to understand.

Aside from small quibbles like that, I am delighted with the product, though.

I find this option confusing as well if anyone can shed a bit of light on my issue....

Surely it can't be correct that I have to press the reset button on the app each time after the sensor is triggered as it does not arm itself after triggering...?

As it is at this moment......(time out is set at 30 seconds)

The PIR sensor ARM button is yellow and the message on it is reading "Detected" so I press the reset button and it Arms successfully, button goes black and the message on it says "PIR Sensor Timed out" so its armed fine.

I walk into the room where its located, sensor triggers and I get my notification on my phone and laptop....everythings good so I leave the room and go in 5 mins later expecting the sensor to trigger again but it will not re-Arm itself unless I press the Reset button !!!!

Any help on this much appreciated and thanks in advance....Shay

Therefore, as long as someone is in the room, the PIR sensor will never go back to the black colored state.

I have a PIR set to timeout after 30 minutes.  Why does it time out after only 8 or 9 minutes???

no on clicked the button. it's timing out in much less than 30 mintues all on its own.
I walked in there once to trip the motion, then waited to see how long it took to time out. Did this several times.
I changed the timeout to 15 minutes and that does seem to be working as expected.
Maybe there is an error with the 30 minute setting?
