I setup one of my tags last Friday in my deep freeze to monitor temperatures. Apparently, 4 days ago was the last time my tag manager received a signal and it also noted battery life was at only 2.62v or 18% left. Really? After less than a week the batter dies?

The coin cell battery (CR2032) installed naturally has lower voltage at low temperature. It's the chemistry of the battery it does not indicate the juice is gone. If you put it back to normal temperature (while watch out for condensation.... you dry it using hair dryer!) you will see the voltage goes back to around 3V.

This would imply the tag to be unsuitable for monitoring freezer?
Main reason I got it. Just received today so guess we'll see what happens. May have to re-think?

What I meant is that the battery voltage drop is "superficial" it does not mean the battery is "drained"
The tag will continue to operate at around 2.6V at -40C for months.

FYI: I'm now at 1 month in the freezer. Battery showing 2.7 / 23%. Has been at that for a while now.
I was hoping for at least a month, so all good for now.

My Problem is that my tag no only shows low batter but also shows no signal and no update for 71 days. Its pretty much dead.

Please take out the tag from freezer, open the case, remove battery,  then use a hair dryer to remove any condensation as soon as it appears to avoid damaging circuit. Then install a new battery.

Please do not leave the tag in freezer with low battery for extended period of time. When battery is very low it increases risk that the flash memory getting corrupted. You should take out the battery then insert a new one, or do not insert a battery if you intend not to use the tag.

Did you try replacing the battery?

For monitoring freezers I use the cheaper water/mousture sensor,  solder a external battery like this

then it will last forever and not freeze, then run the sensor inside the freezer.

What good is a sensor for temp monitoring the freezer if the battery is dead within 2 weeks?

It's good if you're a battery manufacturer.   ;-)

using the moisture sensors the battery can get much colder then the moisture sensors.  What sensor and temperature are you using?

-18c and the moisture sensor seem to be running fine for months in my freezer.
set a low battery alert when it drops below 70%  warm the battery up and you will be good for many months.
