Hi all,

I have a setup of IP cameras at home and I have been looking at maybe buying some wireless tags. My main goal was to monitor things that happened around the house and get alerted when things shouldn't happen (like motion while we are away).

I like using the IP cameras for motion detection, since you can also view the motion that was detected. I also see how it would be nice to have wireless tags around too, and have them working together - for example maybe have cameras on the outside of the house and wireless tags on the inside.

I have a background in web development, so I thought there might be opportunity to make a web service that could simply take HTTP requests (as events) and monitor those against alarm triggers, and create alerts when triggered. Such a setup would allow a large number of different devices to potentially work together.

I wasn't aware of a web service that did this, so I created https://hithub.io

I just put it online this week and am looking for a small group of people, who have an interest in such a system, to help test it and give feedback.

Please take a look at it and let me know what you think. If you'd be interested in helping test it, feel free to go ahead and register. You can begin creating sensors and alarms immediately. Just keep in mind that its in testing, and so changes will be made and data loss could occur.

Thanks in advance for any feedback and testing help.

This is different than IFTTT. IFTTT has very specific recipes that you can use to do many things, but the recipes don't offer much flexibility - as far as defining and controlling an alarm type system.

Since Hithub basically just monitors HTTP requests from potentially any device, there is a lot of flexibility in what you can do. Where IFTTT is a general if/then application, Hithub is an alarm application with features aimed directly at monitoring and alerting when exceptions occur.

I have a demo account available now. You can access it from the tour page.

Hope this helps,
Neal
