I have seen that some hubs control WEMO led bulbs without the WEMO Link.

I want to be sure this is not the case with the Wireless Sensor Tags hub.

Is it correct that the WEMO link is REQUIRED to use the WEMO Led with the Wireless Sensor Tag controls?

This is correct. The Wireless Sensor Tag hub will only talk to Wireless Sensor Tags.
