Wireless Sensor Tag Wrong Axis of Detection

I purchased some sensor tags with humidity sensing some months ago for my apartment and was satisfied with how they worked for doors, just fasten it to the door as if it were a sticker and it would detect when the door was opened and when it was closed.

Earlier this week, for a work project I proposed we use these sensors. Not needing humidity for this application, we purchased the Wireless Sensor Tag (with Temperature). When I went to use them, the tags would only detect door position if they were set on their bottom edge as closed and then set on their back with the logo facing up as open.

Additionally, I mounted a tag on my desk cabinet (MDF) that had a horizontal movement in opening and closing. Whenever, I opened or closed the cabinet, the light inside the tag would flash red once or twice, but would not push a notification about the status of the door.

Have I received faulty tags? Did I not order the correct tags? Am I not setting them up correctly?

Please choose motion detection mode, increase the sensitivity to about 90% (or higher if you can get the tag not to send moved event always), choose "automatically reset after 10 seconds"  then run the KumoApp "AngleXYZ" to log the raw 3D compass data every time there is Moved event. From the data you can tell if one axis of the 3D compass is stuck or something very easily.

The symptom you described "light inside flash red once but no push notification" indicates that the tag is transmitting orientation data, but the angle difference calculated by the server is smaller than your configured threshold angle, hence no push notification or opened event.

From the KumoApp Log:
11/10/2016 10:05 AM
Door 2 X=-1888, Y=-1806, Z=4215
11/10/2016 10:05 AM
Door 2 X=-1916, Y=-1401, Z=5043

The two positions are about 90 degrees from eachother as rotated with a vertical axis of rotation, like a normal door.

Can you tell me if the readings I got are correct for the motion it detected? If so, then why is the tag not reading the open/close state of the door?
