Hi all,

It has been a few months since there has been a posting to this list.
Can I suggest we close it down? The reason being is I get enough spam
every week on this list that has to be individually moderated to make
keeping a list with no traffic a bit of a pain. There is plenty of
activity on the village telco list (http://groups.google.com/group/
village-telco-dev) which covers much of the same ground.

What say you all?

I would second that we close this down. The reason being that with
lots of wireless activities taking place within Africa it is
surprising to have a mailing list about wireless techs and yet with no
posting. I would encourage pple that we move on to the village telco.

Thanks,

Ed.

I third it. Everything comes and goes. It's time for this list to go.

Yes. Good idea. In any case that APC-wireless are still active and still
being used on occasion. We will keep them going for the foreseeable
future.

Are there new lists that were set up by the IDRC follow up project being
managed by the CSIR/Meraka?

Cheers

ok, Google Groups has an option for archiving mailing lists which
means they will be searchable but you won't be able to send a message
to them. I'm archiving this list as of today. If anyone would like
to re-activate in the future, feel free to get in touch

Hi,

I see no needs to keep it alive.
Wireless Africa project has its own list, which is not more active than this one, by the way.

best regards
Adel

Hi,

I wish for the list to be kept open. I don't see it hurting anyone and it may come in handy again in future. I'm willing to take over the adminstration of the list and filtering of  spam.

Kind regards,
Kobus

Hi all

I agree with the idea that having many mail list on exactly the same subject and  under the same project platform and context is not good idea.

But from my opinion just closing a list that has been opened for so long time may not be  a good idea too.

The middle option should be  to try a  kind  of gathering of the  too lists by
  •  first inviting all the members of the Wireless-Africa list to join Village-teleco list and
  • then proceed to an archiving of the list as Steve  propose.

Kobus i would like kindly point out to you that is not very useful to maintain a mailing list where there is no more mail sending through.
