Hello,

Please be advised that the following features will be removed from an upcoming release of WiredTiger:
  • Huffman encoding
  • The session->rename API
  • The connection->configure_method API
  • The test_config_validate API
  • Log-based incremental backup
  • Projections
  • Indexes
  • Custom extractors
  • Pack and unpack streams
  • Structure packing and unpacking
  • The session->join API
  • The checkpoint "target" option
  • Direct IO
These features will be removed as part of the 12.0 release which is currently planned for June 2024. You can continue to use these features in supported versions without impact. Bug fixes will be actioned until version 11.2 reaches end-of-support in August 2026.

The removal of these features is exclusive to standalone WiredTiger databases and does not affect MongoDB releases. If you have any questions or concerns, please submit a ticket to our issue tracker [1] or contact us directly at in...@wiredtiger.com.

Regards,
The WiredTiger team
