Hello All:

At this time, as far as Sandy and I know, things are still on for this weekend's game.

On the down side, we will not be able to play on January 1st because Sandy will be busy packing and getting last minute details settled before catching her flight EARLY Monday morning. We had to retire her guide dog last month, and she got into class for a new dog in January. She'll be gone from January 2nd until January 20th as she trains with the new dog and settles in.

I should be able to play on January 14 and hopefully things will be back to normal enough for her to play on the 21st, but I really can't say. She will be physically attached to the new dog for about 2 weeks and until we know the temperment of the dog (How friendly he is going to be), better to not make promises.

Hello All:

I just wanted to get a head count of who was coming to play tomorrow.

I know that Sandy and I will be here (As we live here, it's hard to miss), and Donald is coming... Nick? Anyone? Beuler... anyone?

There's wording in this message that just now clicked with me. Have
you talked Sandy into playing?

Yes, Sandy's been playing for a few weeks -- her character, Anastasia
Beech, is an Elfling from Aelvona and owns a small boat ("Mudskipper", a
semi-cabin ketch with 27 foot waterline and berths for four, if
reasonably friendly).

Sandy has been playing in Donald's game for about 2 months, although we
really haven't played in about 2 months because of the time of year and
issues. But, she has played a couple of sessions. She's a newbie but has a
lot of creativity

She has some real interest in the Pulp genre, but admittedly very little in
the buck rogers or super heroes settings.

No love for Buck.  I guess it really is more of a "guy" thing.

Well, she likes Buck, from the 1970's, but she's not a sci-fi person and I think she would look at it, but just not sure about the pulp version of the 1920's. I can try to bring her around when everything is a little closer to coming up. She has expressed an interest in a newspaper reporter for a pulp setting, which might work in a buck setting if I think about it long enough.

Merry Christmas
Harry

When we do finally get around to the world of Armageddon 2419, the initial player characters will to two broad sets of background to choose from.  They will either be people from the 1920s who collectively got help in suspended animation for 400 years, or they'll be from 2419.  (When I say collectively I mean that all of the characters from the 1920s will be victims of the same suspended animation incident, not all character in general.  There can be a mix of people from the past and from present.)

In very broad terms, characters from the past will generally be stronger, characters from the present (2419) will generally be smarter.

A significant indicator for Sandy is going to be her new dog. She's going back to dog school on January 2nd, and the settling in process when she returns will be about 8 weeks of nearly constant contact that will slowly move toward the dog feeling comfortable and settled enough to be left alone for periods of time.

For the first 2 to 3 weeks, the dog will be on leash and attached to her (or tied down next to her) constantly. Then, the dog will be off leash for about a month and observed closely. Then, short periods of time alone that will grow over time. We could leave Vesper and Glorie alone overnight, and for 5 to 6 hours during the day if we made sure to park them (walk) before we left and when we got home.

When you are talking about a dog who's net worth is more than most SUV's, the process is an involved one.
