anyone know anyone who might want to join our vastly depleted band of merry marauders? We need new cannon fodder and we keep loosing the ones we just get trained to fall down an die in a convincing, dramatic and entertaining method, taught by Lee Majors and William Shatner personally....

Funny you should mention that, I have a friend who was asking about joining..  though his biggest problem is he doesn't have an email address. I'd have to be messenger in between sessions.  But... he is a very good roleplayer and is not known to miss engagements.

I don't have any problem with accepting another player (As long as he or she doesn't mind the dogs), but the ultimate decision is Donalds. Roleplaying etiquette dictates that that both the host and GM should agree on additions to any game, and a negative response from either means a no from both... so I'm ok with it... Donald?

In all honesty, I hate for the group, which once numbered at least 6, can be called at this point because a single player cannot make a game, and we are in that potential situation now... and have been for months. (Indeed, we have called more than a few games because either JD or I have been unable to play)

With JD on indefinent leave, we are still in that situation. *sighs*

Given no negative information about the player, I'd say let's get him to
a session and see how things go. It's a little complicated with him not
having e-mail, because unless he's an experience GURPS player, I'll
probably need to help with making up a character -- for which I make
extensive use of a non-portable computer (and current versions of GCS
won't run on my 1998 vintage laptop with Windows 98, failing conversion
of that machine to Linux -- which I haven't really considered because
it's so old I don't think its 192 MB of RAM and 4 GB hard disk adequate
for most current Linux builds, never mind what its performance will look
like at 300 MHz).

Now, I *can* build a character working only from the books -- but all
the equipment pricing is in GCS, too, much/most of which isn't in the
books at all (I've added a lot of equipment to the library). In fact,
I'm already pursuing some method to export that price list, short of
dropping it into a dummy character sheet /en masse/; we frequently want
it during the game.

Meantime, though, if he's interested in playing, I can hand him an NPC
for the next session, or I can make up a character based on his concept
(can't be ready for today, obviously, but should be possible by the 24th).

If, through hard work and perseverance, you finally get what you want,
it's probably a sign you weren't dreaming big enough.
