Ok, some of you may remember that I once expressed an interest in running a game based on the old Buck Rogers comic strip (not the 1979 TV series).  Well, much time has passed since then and my schedule hasn't really been to conducive towards doing much gaming (much less running something) but if anyone is interested in what I've been talking about, here's the current state of my notes / player handout.  There's still a bunch of stuff left to add (the Sunday strips - which centered around the adventures of Buddy Deering and Alura on Mars - aren't represented at all) once I have time.

This looks interesting, John, but I can see a problem actually finding
50 points of Disadvantages for a 1929 character -- Soc Lims, Rivals
(barring an NPC who "fell through time" along with the PC), Hunted
appropriate to the character's background simply won't apply after five
centuries in suspended animation. We can only have so many Psych Lims,
and Phys Lims can be major problems in a combat-heavy game -- we don't
want a bunch of one-eyed, one-handed, peg-legged Heroes, right?

If, through hard work and perseverance, you finally get what you want,
it's probably a sign you weren't dreaming big enough.

Well... several of the archtypes hd nearly 50 points of disads already... as
an example, if a man from the past joined the fight as a soldier, there's 20
points right there... It may take come creativity, but I think it could be
done.

I find the idea interesting, but I wonder if the rocket pistols are clip fed
or in a big cylinder... lol

You know, I got the complete 1970's series of Buck rogers for my birthday
and it's so different in flavor from the 20's version (or the 30's, 40's,
etc)

Still, aside from playing a man from the 1920's (or 30's), there's some
potential in the game... I wouldn't want to see a whole group of characters
who via one method or another from 500 years in the past.

Keep in mind, I wouldn't expect all of the PCs to from 1929.  In fact,if there were more than one I'd kind of be surprised, unless some (or all) of the players deliberately built a "team" designed to lost in time together - like maybe a geological or archeological research team all trapped in cave together.
