Well, it took two sessions, but Everyone survived and lived to run away another day.

Things had been going well on the Mud Skipper with Capt'n Anne at the tiller when a heavy blow came up from the south and threatened to be a bad one for a fair sized boat on the open water. After explaining to Sam what  a Blow was, he agreed that putting into a cove or even beaching the Mud Skipper was a good idea... Moonlight belched with dry heaves and didn't have an opinion on the matter.

After finding a nice beach to run aground on, the Mud Skipper was secured and the waterlogged party disembarked and made for the dubious safety of the tree-line. After some thought however, Anne cast a spell and created a rather cozy stone shelter on the beach above the high-water mark and the three adventurers settled down for a long... well some season nap as their clothing dried along side a nice little fire that Sam built. Moonlight recovered on a nice bed of sand fleas and his cloak.

A couple of hours later, during the height of the storm, Sam (yes, deaf as a doorknob Sam) heard some unusual sounds from the nearby forest and took a peak to try to see what it was. After some minutes of fruitless looking, the impulsive warrior slipped quietly out into the storm and under the trees of the enchanting forest, where he tried mightily (and not doing too well at it) to sneak about and see what was watching him watch them. Eventually, Sam spotted an elf peaking out from behind a skinny tree, then another human near another tree. Deciding that facing them was the only way to discover what they wanted and what sort of mischief they were up to, he stepped out and greeted the men.

The two men were cautious in their approach and were armed with some highly expensive weapons; mainly a cannonet and a strange multi-barreled contraption. Although the cannonet was useless in the storm, Sam didn't know about the contraption.

The two asked if he was Sam Hastings... what a coincidence! Sam denied the question and identified himself as Rosco Merriweather, that he was a merchant on his way to Verigos with his wife with trade goods.

Unfortunately, one of the gentlemen had already met Sam and positively identified him; to wich Sam responded, "Earl! Is that you Earl?" It was not Earl....

About this time, Sam detected a third figure sneaking up behind him and warned the sneaky cut-throat to come no closer and a conversation began on a bad foot... these fine upstanding rogues were from Orichalcum and were hunting for Sam to bring him back for a myriad of charges... none of which Sam was guilty of, ofcourse, and they wanted his unknown companion. Sam, being the upstanding citizen and friend that he is denied all charges and refused to give up the name of his imaginary associate in these ridiculous charges.

It was at this time that the elf lifted his contraption and fired off a loud report into the trees and informed Sam that he was under arrest... of all the nerve! Only a true fool would try to arrest you three times in one day... of course, as there were three of them, Sam figured that it was a case of who is more foolish? The fool, or the fool standing in the rain refusing them?

The sharp noise shocked Anne, but she held her cool and peeked out of the shelter, wondering what Sam may of gotten himself into before slipping out into the rain just in time to hear the far-fetched charges from hiding and returned to the shelter for a brandy and snack of smoked bluefish pate.. delish!

Sam, acting on instinct drew his blades and whirled on the man behind him, who attempted to hit him with a hooked hand just like Cap'n Hook did to Peter Pan... with as much success! Of course,Sam missed too, but lets not hurt his feelings, shall we?

Sam bulled Hook over and ran for it, taking 4 pellets from the contraption as he ran... ouch that smarts!

At a serious disadvantage against three men, including one with a multi-barreled contraption that seemed to throw a lot of little pellets at you at a high rate of speed... and smarts... Sam decided to conduct a maneuvering battle, hiding in the thick underbrush at the treeline until he could act.

A couple of minutes later, two guards caught up with him and began to hunt for the cunning warrior, only to have the tables turned on one of them and laid low by fancy swordwork by Sam, The Untouchable (with everything except for multi-barreled contraptions that... yada, yada, yada). Having disabled the fine gentleman from Orichalcum, Sam took great effort to seek out the no-good elf with his wonderful barking machine. After some effort, he finally spied the foul elf and sneaking up on him, dispatched him with little effort and took up his weapon!

Now, the odds were even! Sam again made his way back, seeking out Mr. Hook, who had revealed his location when his comrade screamed in pain. After some effort, Sam located the two guards and promptly shot Hook in the tushi before engaging in a heated but short fight. Knowing that he dare not allow these men to return to Orichalcum with knowledge of where he (and Moonlight) may be, he dispatched the three men, stripped them of any useful items and buried anything that could be identified.

Although it took him 40 minutes, he also located the horses, removed all identifying items and let the horses go. The saddles and items were spread throughout the forest.

Sam returned home to a fuming and wet Anne, who was nice enough to heel him... just like a married couple with odd neighbors named Ralph.

When we left the intrepid party, they were preparing to set sail again for Verigos.

The following items were recovered from the men, and Moonlight can select anything that he wants; the rest will be either dumped at sea, or sold when they make land again.

Moonlight gets: 3 Suns, 13 Guilders, 5 Bits and 7 points

small pouch

Nice synopsis, though there might have been some slightly different
versions of certain elements if anyone else had survived...

Cartridge cases are a block of wood with holes bored in to hold the
paper cartridges, and a leather covering (usually) glued to the wood. A
leatherworker could salvage the leather (the hide glue used softens with
moist heat), but it wouldn't be worth the effort given the relative
values of cartridge cases vs. small pouches.

A leather helmet isn't steel reinforced, it just covers more of the head
than a leather cap, and is of heavier leather stiffened the same way
heavy leather armor is. Also, as I recall, you had two badges and eight
of the small candles.

You're about one day's sail (given cooperative weather) from Kensma and
were planning to stop there for provisions (fresh items aren't fresh any
more after a week at sea). You'll have a five to seven days additional
sailing to reach Varagost after you leave Kensma.

If, through hard work and perseverance, you finally get what you want,
it's probably a sign you weren't dreaming big enough.

It wasn't intended to be wholely accurate, afterall, it's told from Sam's
point of view, so it's slanted toward him and meant to be mildly humorous.

Sam took one of the badges and Anne took 4 candles (half). Anne wanted the
far seeing crystal as it could be useful on the open water and aside from
the candles, that was all she took. Sam took the black powder and fuse.
