Hi Gang:

This is really off topic, and may be more than anyone wants to respond to, but I am at a loss on how to proceed and really could use some advice.

Sandy, after talking to one of her doctors, has agreed with me that our current GP, or Primary Care Provider, is not fulfilling our needs, or even providing any level of care at all. In short, Sandy is a type 2 diabetic, who needs regular checks of her condition. The regular routine in most doctor's offices is a blood test every 3 months. The time span between her last appointment and her next one is nearly 9 months, and repeated refusals to see her in crisis situations when she needed to see the doctor.

So, we are starting the process of seeking out another family, or interist to fill the position of primary care provider (Or GP). As the internet can literally give you information on anything, it also gives you too much information without giving you detail in this particular field.

So, we are asking who your Primary Care Providers are, and if you would recommend him/her/them to 2 40 year olds with potentially complex and involved medical conditions (Including fidiabetes, cronic conditions such as cellulitis and folicalitis, kidney transplantees and blindness. There are a growing list of alergies and reactions to a number of medications. We also require a doctor who is proactive and willing to work with the patient (and other doctors) to provide a consistant and complete care that is in the best interest of the patient.

If anyone wants to step forward and offer a name, or practice, both Sandy and I will be forever grateful and in your debt.

thank you for your time

Can't help you. I should be going regularly, but I haven't been back to
a doctor since my doctor's office drew the incorrect blood sample for a
simple lipid panel -- not once, but *three times* in succession (each
time requiring me to show up fasting -- hard on me, since I wake up
hungry and had to be up early to have the car at that time). By the
time they'd gotten it wrong that many times, I no longer trusted them to
give me the time of day accurately, and haven't sought another doctor to
whom to turn over control of my life again.

I'd recommend avoiding LeBauer, however -- and the Moses Cone system
they're part of -- on the assumption that they still aren't paying
attention.

Have you tried Angie's List?

If, through hard work and perseverance, you finally get what you want,
it's probably a sign you weren't dreaming big enough.

I'd actually recommend Dr. Nnadi of Kernersville Family Practice. On first visit she'll give a full on complete exam and al sorts of things. Her biggest thing is she wants you to consult her before you do anything, she'll work with you for changes, but will get on your case if you do anything without her permission.

The rest of her staff are equally good at working with you,  where you might not always see Dr. Nnadi, they're very good at communicating between each other.

I can't tell you exactly how it will go, but can say that she will be quite thorough, and if you hold nothing back she'll do the same.

My mother has type 2 Diabetes, hypothryroidism and a number of other things, and goes to Dr. Nnadi.

Only reason I don't go??? My insurance sucks..... bahh!

Your experience sounds like our last GP... he couldn't tell the difference
between a wart and an asshole, I swear. He doubled us by having us come in
for an office visit to draw blood, then come back in the next week for
another office visit to tell us the test results... nothing else, no "how do
you feel," "Let me listen to your heart," or even, "What's all that cherry
red flushing on your arm?" The "pain" clinic seems to run along the same
vien... they tried Sandy on three fibromyalgia medications (In the same
close net family) and didn't even check her drug list for interactions...
didn't even think of giving her anything during the "coming off" and
"Starting" new medications, so she was without any pain relief at all for a
week to 10 days at a time, and we haven't seen the same doctor twice...
Don't even get me started about her dermotologist!

I'll have to take a look at Angie's List... I hadn't even thought of it
until you mentioned it... I just know that no treatment is becoming a catch
phrase with our doctors and we're worried that without a serious doctor,
Sandy's going to end up hospitalized again when the treatment options are so
numerous before it gets to that stage... if our doctor would even look at
her.

Thanks for responding.

Hi Nick:

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into it, but as we are on the west side of Winston, and getting to Kernersville can be difficult, I don't hold out a lot of hope for the suggestion... incidently, my childhood doctor worked out of an old bank branch building in the early 70's, and was an excellent doctor until he retired in the late 70's and we didn't seek out another GP until the mid 90's.
