This extraordinary work provides a glimpse into the august scholarly and spiritual traditions of islam carried forth into our day. Some people many have concluded that the saints and sages of Islam ended with all those names with whom we are most familiar- Ghazali, Jilani, Rumi and so on. It is important to understand that the knowledge and spiritual depth reached in past centuries and celebrated in so many book, in fact has and does continue into the present day. Otherwise, it would not be eternal Truth.

The fruits of spiritual seclusion are wondrous and strange! At the beginning of the path I had a 1000-count masbaha (prayer beads), and stayed inside my seclusion room for ten days, but nothing happened, and true stillness did not enter my heart. But on the tenth day, I saw wonders and marvels- and that lasted for a minute. Then I knew (my Lord). After that my father gave me up for the sake of religious scholarship, and I came here (from Sudan to the Azhar).

A recent clip has been uploaded online showing a brother being removed from the Jaffari Islamic Center in Toronto after he asked how they could support the Islamic Center of England which has been targeted due to their support of the martyr Qassem Soleimani

There was a discussion about this in a centre that I have some involvement with. From the coal face, I can tell you the 'fear' is not an irrational one and keeping centres open in the face of unsympathetic authorities and other groups in society who want you shut down is challenging.

There's the flag waving approach (which is literally what the guy who got thrown out was doing) and then there's other ways. And certainly there's concerns whether the flag wavers are agent provocateur. So there's that.

- The center has had some bad press in the past. In one case, they were working on a local housing project for the community, and there was propaganda sort of bad press questioning whether non-Muslims could live there and whether it would feature shariah patrols. Some missteps in the PR by the community gave them a lot of uncomfortable explaining to do.
There was another incident where some school workbooks that were reused from overseas had some frankly borderline anti-Semitic content that got exposed publicly, to embarrassment for the center.

We had the something similar happen about 10 years ago with that nutcase Terry Jones. He came to Dearborn and said he was going to burn the Quran in front of the Masjid. The masjid told him he was not allowed on the masjid property and got a restraining order against him. He said he would do it on the street in front of the masjid which is a public sidewalk. He didn't end up doing it because only two or three people ended up showing up to support him and there were hundreds of protestors protesting against him. Some of them were local pastors and priests.

It is quite simple. Some of the centers out there are not very interested in what is right and wrong. The silent agreement in place is that they can carry out their harmless cultural rituals as long as they don't go against the dominant political positions.

I don't have sufficient information to censure either the mosque management or the person in the video, but even from a position of husn al-dhann, we must be wary of the fact that a lot of Islamic institutions in the West and the East (including Shi'a ones) are under heavy surveillance from hostile governments and any misstep can have dire consequences. Therefore every anti-establishment activity must be well planned and not rash. Unfortunately a lot of zealous persons, even if well meaning, don't understand this and their lack of tact ends up doing more harm than good.

This is also a very pertinent point. Such places and people have a huge role in turning the religion into some sort of Wiccan club or hobby group where people gather to indulge in some collective cultural, Lawrence of Arabia -like fetish without any moral imperatives and real life concomitants. A lot of the rot that we see today is facilitated by them.

That said, having dealt with these nuts for past many years, they have no sense of scope of the islamic center or the public office, which makes them at least as gullible or at most as sinister as those who halted Siffin at gunpoint seeing Quran raised on spears.

Salam all of examples are not nut att all which all of three are impostant questions which must be asked anytime from anyperson which even now some christian & non muslims in NA have shown concerns about Palestine & opposition to zionist Isreal which in similar fashion Abortion issue has been an important discussion betwen political parties in NA which also Kashmir issue is important too which it needs rising awarness about it in Shia community specially in European countries & NA .

It has been his usual way of speaking which @Abu_Zahra always has concered Shia Islam values over liberalism although me & him have had disagreement about purification of reigion in Shia islam & following Marjas but on the other hand both of us have been in same front in opposition of Zionists & spreading of Kufar ideologoy likewise LGBT .

This is what you get when we stay in the land of Taghut (West), we slowly become accustomed to the status quo at the expense of our principles. It's may sound very pessimistic and despairing but religious organising and engagement for the long term is becoming futile. Migration is the best, and at a certain point in the future, the only solution to save ourselves and our deen.

There is a vast median area between political adventurism and mollycoddling suspect agent provocateurs and saboteurs with kid gloves, and active, conscious dumbing down of discourse by purging all 'uncomfortable' topics pertaining to the socio-political status quo. There is a huge difference between tactical silence and apathy, and even active collaborationism with hostile powers. The point is not whether this specific center is at fault or not, the contention here is that there is a trend among institutions, especially those in the West, to actually hush hush any and everything which opposes the dominant politico-ideological matrix. There is an active shirking of responsibility to equip the children for dealing with a hostile surrounding. The people, and the young ones in particular, need to be taught that there is more to their religion than how many times to wash during wudhu and attending Sunday madrassa. If this is what we are willing to settle for, then maybe we should not complain about why our offspring are apostasizing in droves, why the polluted secular liberal atmosphere is corroding our faith, or why there is no gheirah for religion anymore. If this has been normalized, then all those muharram majalis have been in vain. The frog and the boiling water syndrome has taken root, and it is only a matter of time before the 'silent' Muslims are cooked alive.

I have seen the brother a few times; he has been an active community member for a long time. He is the head of an organization called Canadian Defenders for Human Rights. Focuses on activism related to Iran and Palestine. He goes to public events to ask questions like this.

Expect more-and-more of these types of collisions to happen in the immediate future...as traditionalist Islam and postmodernist/liberal/statist Islam collide...'New World' and 'Old World' tendencies will inevitably butt heads...transcends sectarianism and antiquated Sunni v. Shi'i paradigm...we're still playing tic-tac-toe and these cats are playing 4D Chess

I'm not necessarily comparing the two brothers with Haqiqatjou...neither am I comparing the Jaffari Islamic Center of Toronto with CAIR or "Compassionate Imams" or Yaqeen Institute per se...I don't have enough background information on either the two individuals or the center to make that judgement...I can respect and appreciate TRUE QUIETIST TWELVERS...if a Shi'i brother or sister wholeheartedly believes that the Muslims shouldn't involve themselves in politics on any level before the advent or uprising of al-Qāʾim (a) and to do so is folly then fair enough...I used to adhere to this position myself prior to around 2002...Iran, IRGC, Hezbollah etc. welcomes genuine criticism if it's well-founded and coming from a well-meaning place and a sincere heart...but it seems more-and-more (lately) that traditional Black Shi'ism position or political aloofness stance is being rerouted and commandeered by subversive elements that want to take down Tehran from within and from without
