For the first time, Steve is forced to think about who he is as he faces prison, where he may spend all the tomorrows of his life. He writes it all down, scene by scene, the story of how his whole life was turned around in an instant. Missionaries by Phil Klay
I loved Phil Klay’s first book, Redeployment (which won the National Book Award), so Missionaries was high on my list of must-reads when it came out in October. It took Klay six years to research and write the book, which follows four characters in Colombia who come together in the shadow of our post-9/11 wars.
